Dr Aidan Egleston

Having qualified from Birmingham University in 1987, Aidan joined five partners in a traditional market town dispensing practice in Newport, Shropshire, in 1996. Within a year of joining the practice, he set up a local vasectomy service using the skills he had acquired during a junior surgical rotation in Dudley in the intervening years. Three years later he had been offered the responsibility of taking on the dispensary and becoming the prescribing lead for the practice.Although it was unclear at the time what the practice was paying for when DDA subscriptions were due, after investigating the Association Aidan attended his first DDA Conference in 2003. Happy with the work that was being done on behalf of dispensing practices by the Association, he became a more active member of the DDA in 2004 after getting involved, through the chairman, in the formulation of the minor relocation part of the pharmaceutical regulations. As he had a little experience in local lobbying he was invited, as a new board member, to attend further training in parliamentary lobbying when this came onto the agenda in early 2005.Aidan also has an interest in acupuncture having spent his elective in China in 1986. He is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society. However, at present his work as an acupuncturist has to take a back seat due to other commitments.

He is involved locally with Newport swimming club, spending time teaching and fundraising and, of course, supporting his three children, all of who swim through their galas.
