Dr Ewan Thomas
(Welsh representative)

I have been a partner in a rural Anglesey practice for 30 years. But, seeing the mounting issues in recruitment and financial viability for a rural Welsh practice I led our application to become a  dispensing practice and, in 2007, after seven years of hard work, gained approval. Establishing a totally new service on two sites has been extremely rewarding and energising.

I trained in Manchester but was always going to be attracted back to this beautiful area of North Wales, where I helped establish, and chair a very successful OOH service locally. I also served for 15 years as a Commissioning GP in a succession of North Walian health structures until overwhelmed by frustration and fatigue.
