Emergency pandemic legislation has been passed ordering pharmacies and GPs to be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Pharmacy representatives understand that Good Friday and Easter Monday will be treated as normal working days for GPs and all community pharmacies are required to be open “for a few hours” on both those days as well.

Care homes have been warned that DHSC expects COVID-19 infection to increase during the Easter weekend and hospitals may well look to discharge as many non-COVID-19 patients as possible into the community to free up capacity.

Pharmacies and dispensing doctor surgeries are also asked to provide a care home delivery option for prescription items, if this is not already provided.
