Improved post-market surveillance of medicines and integrated system commissioning in England are two aims of a proposed new Health and Care Bill, set out in a new white paper.

The new white paper, Integration and Innovation: working together to improve health and social care for all  sets out powers for the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to set up national medicines registries.

The aim is to enable the establishment and operation of a comprehensive medicine information system, including data collection from private providers, which will support UK-wide medicine registries.

Also in the white paper are proposals to allow GPs to sit on new joint Integrated Care System and NHS provider committees to support more joined-up decision making.
