NHS England has announced a continuation of the COVID-19 medicines delivery service to patients living in certain postcodes in Leicester, Blackburn and Darwen and Luton.

The service will be nationally commissioned throughout August for both pharmacies and dispensing practices. However, payment will only be made to pharmacies and dispensing practices delivering to eligible shielded patients residing in the defined postcodes.

The current COVID-19 medicines delivery service for shielded patients is due to end tomorrow, Friday 31 July. However, the new arrangements aim to secure medicine supplies to patients affected by a local lockdown.

It is understood that a few dispensing GPs will be eligible to participate in the August service, and NHS England & Improvement will write to participating practices.
