Welsh Government reveals cost of COVID home delivery service

£8,500 spent on volunteer recruitment and management

The Welsh volunteer COVID home delivery service cost the Welsh Government some £75,000 to set up and deliver between April and June 2020, a Freedom of Information Act request has revealed.

The response by the Welsh Government shows that almost £62,000 was spent setting up the Pro Delivery Manager system, almost £8,500 was spent on recruiting and managing 310 volunteers and £4,500 on volunteers’ mileage claims.

By June 2020, 375 GPs and community pharmacies were using the Pro Delivery Manager system to manage medicines home deliveries during COVID.
